Well that was a waste of money and time
I had downloaded this app because I needed to fax a few documents, and iFax kept force closing on me. I was wary about the interface because it forced me to purchase pages before I had the opportunity to send them. Still, the cost was less than taking it to a copy center and using their fax machine. Well, I probably should have just paid the extra money after the ordeal I have had with Fax Pro. So, with my first outing, the fax “failed to send” on the first try, but it didn’t waste any of the credits I had purchased. On the second attempt, it went through and was received. I then had a second document that I needed to send, and so I followed the same protocol. Again, on the first attempt, it didn’t send, but on the second attempt it went through fine. That was about three weeks ago.
Fastforward to today. I went to fax a document this morning, and upon trying to open the application I was met with a message saying that it had been corrupted, and that I needed to delete it from my computer and download it again. This wasn’t the frustrating part. I know my way around the Applications folder, and deleted it. I hopped on the App Store and downloaded it again. My credits were still there, and it seemed to queue up okay. So, I went about trying to fax my documents again. The first attempt brought me to the all familiar “Couldn’t send fax” screen. My second attempt resulted in the loading bar hovering over the app for well over an hour. I had reliable 20 Mbps speeds the entire time, yet all the application did was stall with the status bar visible. I never got a failure message, nor did I get a confirmation message. I force closed it and opened it back up to see if any of my credits had been used. They hadn’t so I closed it properly, opened it, and gave it another shot. It hung again, this time for upwards of about thiry minutes before I finally force closed it.
At this point in time, I figured to again delete the app and then download it again. After a successful download and install, I opened to find that all of my credits were erradicated, and, to “attempt” to fax anything else, I would have to pay more money. I had 12 credits when I had previously closed and opened the app, and now I have 0.
I hate when my apprehensions turn out to be true, but in this case, they were. I cannot recommend this application to anyone. Eventhough iFax force closes, in the two times that I used it, I at least only had to pay for something if the app successfully faxed something. I will be taking my business elsewhere as this app has been incredibly underwhelming and clearly geared toward generating revenue in a manner similar to the way that Disney World asks that you purchase “Disney Bucks.” I guess at least at Disney world you have somewhat fond memories to wash down the bitter taste left in your mouth by exchanging legit tender for fictitious currency.
I cannot recommend this application. Download and use at your own risk, but don’t be surprised if, ultimately, you feel buyers remorse almost immdeiately after purchasing your first batch of next to useless credits.
